Golf Simulator Setup Guide: Order of Operations

Short answer
Build a golf simulator in this order: measure the room, choose the enclosure, choose the launch monitor, add the projector and PC, install turf, then calibrate. The room dictates every decision after it.
Step 1 — Measure the room
Width, depth and clearance to the lowest obstruction. Everything else follows from these three numbers. See the space guide and room dimensions page.
Step 2 — Choose the enclosure
Dedicated room, or shared? Shared rooms want a folding or retractable enclosure; dedicated rooms can take a fixed booth. Each enclosure size on our site lists room height, room depth, projectable area and projection ratio. Compare enclosures.
Step 3 — Choose the launch monitor
Shallow room or low ceiling means a camera unit beside the ball. Deep room with height means an overhead unit like the ProTee VX or Uneekor EYE XO2 is on the table. Budget and software compatibility decide the rest — see the launch monitor comparison.
Step 4 — Projector and computer
Match the projector's throw ratio to the number on your enclosure size. Confirm your launch monitor's software runs on the machine you plan to use — we offer prebuilt gaming PCs in our packages configured for simulator software. Mount the projector where the club will never reach it.
Step 5 — Turf and flooring
A quality hitting mat protects your wrists and your floor. Level the hitting surface with the surrounding turf so your stance is flat. Browse turf and mats.
Step 6 — Calibrate
- Set the launch monitor's ball and club position exactly as the manufacturer specifies — most inconsistent data traces back to this.
- Align the projected image to the screen edges before you play a round.
- Check lighting: flicker from older fixtures can upset camera-based units.
- Hit a dozen known shots with a mid-iron and compare carry to your on-course numbers.
