How Much Space Do You Need for a Golf Simulator?

Short answer
A comfortable golf simulator needs roughly 10 feet of width, 15 feet of depth and 9 feet of ceiling height. The workable minimum is about 9 feet wide, 12 feet deep and 8.5 feet high.

Width matters most if both right- and left-handed golfers will use the room. Depth matters most for radar launch monitors, which need space behind the ball to read the swing.
Where the depth goes
A 15-foot room is not 15 feet of swing space. Budget it like this:
- 1–2 ft between the impact screen and the back wall, so the screen can absorb a shot without slapping the drywall.
- 8–10 ft from the screen to the ball. Closer than 8 ft and shots feel uncomfortably fast; farther back gives a more realistic ball flight.
- 3–5 ft behind the ball for your stance, backswing, and any radar unit that sits behind you.
Width and the two-handed problem
A right-handed golfer set up centre-screen needs about 4–5 feet to their right. Add a left-hander and you need the same clearance on the other side, which is why 12 feet of width is the real comfort threshold for a shared family room. If you only have 9–10 feet, offset the hitting position and accept that one side will be tighter.
What if the room is smaller than the minimum?
Two options work well:

Measure it properly
Stand where the ball will be and take a slow full swing with a driver. Note where the clubhead comes closest to a wall, a ceiling joist, or a light. That clearance point — not the room's nominal size — is what determines your build.
